How it all began...

In maybe ninth grade (lets just go with in high school) my best friend Keeke and I used to spend a lot of time thinking about future our weddings. We picked out our dresses, our flowers, our bridesmaids dresses, and planned every little detail.

So I guess it should be said that we:
  1. Lived in a small town
  2. Watched a lot of a show that was new then called "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway"
  3. We're both incredibly girlie
The love of planning every last tiny thing and searching for the most perfect font to use on my perfect invitations should have clued me in that this would have made an amazing career choice. Sigh, I chose Political Science (which to me turned quickly into nothing but a big yawn). Fast forward through some boring details and here I am, close to age 25 and after the engagement of my current best friend I realize my calling. Sure, now I am a recent college grad who is on my way to becoming a household name as a family photographer (actually that is just a dream... I am in no way a household name nor anywhere in the vicinity). No I am just a lady with a camera and a small portfolio of some interesting shots of cute kids.

Ever since Melinda got engaged I have done nothing but revert to ninth grade Kyla scouring the web for my dream wedding. I should add that I have about 3 dream weddings. After sharing this embarrassing fact with my dear friend she said, "Kyla you should be a wedding planner. It is perfect for you." All day I have been thinking maybe she is right. I think I am a planner at heart. I have a keen eye for details, love flowers, love cake shows about weddings, love shows about wedding dress... this list goes on infinitely.

I guess to sum it all up, I am in love with weddings. I am a wedding planner at heart.

Melinda and Brian...They will be getting married in December in ALASKA!!!!!!!!
